We contracted with Advantage to undertake the full structural work and fit out of our basement in Autumn 2010; of the 5 professional basement companies we initially contacted to quote for the work, Advantage stood out in terms of the experience of their team, efficiency of their processes, financial stability* and competitiveness of their pricing. We visited a number of properties they had renovated or were in the process of renovating, and were impressed with the quality and finishing of their work.
Once work had commenced, the Advantage teams were well supervised, worked efficiently and remained on schedule for the majority of the structural and fit out stages. My wife and I were reassured that the job foreman and managing director organised regular progress meetings and were always sympathetic and responsive in dealing with our concerns; I felt that all the Advantage staff top down - the foreman in particular - had a 'customer first' mindset: if the work was not 100% to our satisfaction, they would review it and work with us to find a solution that worked for us. They were mindful of our budget and were always clear in signalling the impact on overall costs. They also helped us remain on good terms with our neighbours, by scrupulous tidying of the site and skip every day, and by listening and dealing with concerns over party wall cracks.
We are very pleased with the final outcome and would recommend Advantage to any householder planning a major basement refurbishment.
*[2 of the 5 companies who quoted for our work subsequently ran into major financial difficulties, so I would not underestimate the criticality of choosing a company with a strong balance sheet and cash flow]

Advantage Basements built our basement within 6 months and we are really happy with the result - it has provided extra storage, a laundry room, a wetroom and a large living space for our 3 children. All the Advantage team were helpful and hard working and managed to start and finish the basement within the agreed time. We had an excellent foreman during the fit out who was helpful and highly skilled and the digging team leader was also helpful and considerate. It was also reassuring to know, too, that there was a structural engineer who was available at short notice if we had any concerns in the Dig phase.

Deciding to go ahead with a basement conversation is a big decision for anyone: it took us over eighteen months from when we started thinking about it until we actually decided to go for it, and then it was another six months before the building work could begin (as we live in Lambeth). During this time, we saw numerous basement companies and received a variety of quotes. From the outset, we were impressed with Advantage Basement & Cellar Company as they were totally professional and personable and also appeared to offer more of a bespoke service than some of their competitors and, importantly, they were competitively priced.
We’ve been involved with numerous building projects over the years and, without doubt, our recent basement conversion has been the most stress free and enjoyable (if you can call a building project that!). Yes, of course, there was dust, mess and noise, but not nearly as much as we had been expecting. Despite our basement being one of the most structurally challenging Advantage have undertaken, what made a real difference is that throughout the entire project, Advantage made us aware of when it would be exceptionally noisy/dusty etc, so we could plan around this, which was relatively easy to do, even with two small children.
Now, a couple of months after completion, we couldn’t be more delighted with the end result. We have around 1,000 extra square feet of great additional living space which is light and airy. It’s made up of a huge playroom/media room, a fabulous wine cellar, additional downstairs loo and sports storage cupboard, as well as a bedroom with ensuite shower room and a small kitchen so, in effect, a self contained flat.
We couldn’t recommend Advantage more highly for anyone that is planning to carry out a basement/cellar conversion and would be more than happy for any prospective clients to contact us with any questions/concerns or to come and have a look at the end result, which speaks for itself.

We have done a lot of building work over the years but the creation of our basement was by far the most exciting and gratifying work yet.
We were most impressed with the professionalism, care and support that the Advantage Basement and Cellar Company has demonstrated from the very beginning and right throughout the project. The company also excelled in guidance in all matters from the outset to an exeptional level of after care.

I am very happy to recommend Advantage Basement & Cellar Company London to anyone considering a cellar conversion. Actually, I'd also recommend a cellar conversion in general - if Advantage Basement & Cellar Company do it.
We now have a house that works sensibly with all the utilities downstairs out of the way and a soundproof room for exercise and music that doesn't disturb the neighbours.
If you are going to do a cellar conversion you really must use a specialist. The whole Advantage Basement & Cellar Company crew, from the bloke with the shovel to the directors, are very good at their jobs. We tendered the work and Advantage Basement & Cellar Company were fairly priced. However, it was only once we got started that we really saw how good a choice we had made. Advantage Basement & Cellar Company are growing because they really work at giving great service. We always felt confident that we would get an excellent result for the money we spent and for all the dust and disruption we went through. So it has proved to be - we now have a new favourite room in our house and it has all been very worthwhile.
I'm really glad not to have to go through such major works again but, if I had to, I'd choose Advantage Basement & Cellar Company - definitely.

We had Advantage Basement Company to construct and outfit a large basement (sixty square meters) and kitchen extension. They undertook all the works including structural, plumbing, wiring and outfitting.
They're performance, scheduling, cost control, risk management and quality was outstanding. They offer a personable, professional and friendly service. It's an integrated service that I would recommend to anyone, and as a professional engineer used to large construction projects you cant beat them

Advantage Basement company was engaged with the basement conversion of our mid-terraced property from March, 2009 to October 2009.
We had originally engaged with another basement conversion company, but became increasingly frustrated with their lack of responsiveness during the planning application process, the preparation of structural engineering drawings and the applications for party wall agreements, and hence decided to reopen our bidding process for the full works for a couple of additional companies including the Advantage Basement company.
This was a great decision, as we have been fully satisfied the Advantage Basement company throughout the process. This includes initially working with their commercial manager Steve through the sales and contract negotiation process, and working with David, our programme of works manager throughout the build process. We also had fantastic support from Vasilev and his team during the 12 weeks excavation process which was completed spot on time, and working with Chris and his team throughout the 1st and 2nd fixing stages. The team has been very responsive throughout the whole process and both Vasilev’s and Chris team’s was very polite, organised, and very tidy throughout the works.
David was very patient with our requirements throughout the process and also very helpful in connecting us to suppliers and other people who wanted to work with throughout the process, incl. Michael Quinnen, from Indigo Blueworks, our architect.
This was a slightly more involved basement conversion of a mid-terraced house, as we required more rooms incl: a family/media room, a wellness room/gym with sauna and steamroom, a cloakroom, a wine storage room, an extra bedroom with an ensuite shower room and utility space for washer/dryer units and general storage.
The end result is a fantastic space where we have everything we could have wished for and with room for our family to grow.
